Are there any rules about what an angler has to do with his line if a canoe goes through his swim? Or is it just down to us to reel in?

They are making the fish riffle at the old weir , the canoe slipway has not yet begun and the consultation process (if thats what you call it has begun). The EA havent got he bottle to say no to the Canoe's. The river is not wide enough.

No one has to move their lines for canoe access , if they do come down and disturb your fishing , please report them to the EA. I implore all river anglers to write to the EA over this issue.

Trouble is many of the rivers 'users' (maybe abusers) do more harm than good on the Dearne. Hardly a good advert for our sport.

Not sure if I dare sa this but I used to be a canoeist :)

maybe canoes should be allowed on Ravenfield ponds or how about a slalom run on the each of the river don weirs, or how about a yachting regatta on any waterway. The BCU (british canoe union) have an open access policy for all waters. They are promoting open access everywhere.

Anglers on the Dearne do not object to canoe's paddling as long as there is room on any watercoarse. the navigable parts of the Don and south yorks navi are more than adequate and can cope with angling and canoeing.

However the river dearne is simply not wide enough to allow un interupted activity for anglers and canoeist to exist happily.
