Firstly I have to sa I know nothing about fisheries; but I did mention to someone in a conversation that I thought grass carp might help keep the weed down. The chap I was talking to said it wouldnt work, anyhow I found this:

Looks like 'Grassies' like Canadian weed :)

Know your enemy:

Maybe the grass carp might not work :(

And finaly if you are really bored the environment agency has this to say:

http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/commondata/acrobat/water__eng_172087.pdf

So its maybe not so straight forward, although it seems if you have a lot of fish in a pond stiring things up the weed wont grow in the first place. Maybe there just isnt enough fish in the pond?

Got an email from Martin today, it seems this weed can dissapear as quick as it arrives. Although he has mentioned other possible options, chemical, increasing stock numbers etc but they all have their problems.

Once concern of mine is it seems when the weed rots down in winter it isnt very pleasnt for the fish either.

I go down lots, fish the other lakes sometimes and just have an afternoon on the carp lake now and then and the odd 24hr sesion.

The bait sharing type thing is one of the things I like so much about Ravo people are keen to help each other out, like a complete stranger helping to land a big fish ... thanks ;)

Its a nice place to be :)
