Whilst at Alderfen last weekend with Andy and Adi, I was able to speak in depth to the fishery owners regarding hosting the charity carp match there.
The great news is that the green light has been given for the event to go ahead, and both owners were extremely keen to help out in any way whatsoever to make the match a success. It is hoped that it will take place in 4 - 5 weeks' time, the exact date to be confirmed over the next fortnight.
Very shortly I will upload an entry form onto this forum. The number of anglers able to fish the event will be 15 - 16, and will be restricted to Ravenfield carp lake members only. As such, participation will be strictly on a first-come, first-served basis.
Cost of entry to the match will be £25.00. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd placing, as well as a separate prize for biggest capture. There will be several very desirable raffles held too on the day, with winners looking at a free weekend's fishing at Alderfen, Angling books or Magazine subscriptions to name but a few. My wife, Joanne, will be making regular rounds with a collection tin, so dig deep, and she will remain on hand to visit the local shops for anyone should anglers require anything they may have forgotten. Hopefully, a photographer will be arranged for the local papers, so big silly grins please everyone!!
If it is possible, we are looking at holding a barbeque before the match begins, with a few crates of beer thrown in (not enough to hinder anyone's ability to drive!). This will give all entrants the opportunity to get to know each other, and would be a nice way in which to kickstart the event.
Final decisions are still to be made concerning the manner of fish weighing and witnessing. Would anyone who does not get the chance to fish the match be willing to act as umpire over the 24hrs? Or if anyone has any other ideas, please post them so they can be discussed.
For now, that's about it. Look out for the entry forms - they will be posted very shortly indeed. Good luck!
