Martin has asked me to post a short statement on behalf of the comittee .

The comittee under no circumstances wish for the carp pond to receive a further raking this year , the reason for this is two fold . We believe it is currently not neccesarry and may do more harm than good at this time of the year , low saturated oxygen levels typical in warm weather combined with disturbing the weed as it decomposes could prove costly . Secondly as the lily pads have not recovered from the earlier raking we do not wish to do further harm .

Although we appreciate the sentiment any work that is carried out in the ponds is done after seeking professional advice , also we would not wish to deprive our members of the opportunity to fish at such a "peak" time , unless fish welfare was in question of course .

Thankyou
yid army!

I think even if there is any new growth it might have to stay for now, if the O2 levels are low I guess the last thing the fish need is chemical chucking in :)
Maybe next time Rob is having a swim we could chuck him a waterproof camera to take some pics of any new growth :)

The way I saw it was that there is going to be a fair bit of trapped gasses from the rotting weed. This will be released slowly over time and the fish will cope with it. By raking the dead stuff out the there is going to be a lot released at once. Weather this would have caused a problem I don't know, like I said I don't know enough. Lets leave it to the poeple that do and follow their advise ;)
